Year-end Surprise - demo began!

Fran and I were in separate rooms and each thought the other was outside cleaning up... we met in the middle and realized neither of us was outside... but the builder's demo crew was!  Took them 2 weeks to build it 7 years ago, took 2 hours to take it down...

Saved a frog...

This was not exactly a TLC operation...

All ready for new concrete and roof after that (they cut off the current roof and porch after the new concrete is poured)...  They finished by putting in the concrete forms for extension of the lanai ... Happy wife / happy life!

Inside view / upgrade view

In preparation for the addition, thought a picture of the current view from the entry to the kitchen would be useful. The entire wall from the left of the sliding door to the right of the window over the sink will disappear... new granite will be installed in kitchen.

Progress on our addition - finally starting Jan 2...

Thought it might be nice to give anyone interested a "then and now" progress site on our addition...
As of this first post, here is a bit of history and status:
We've been here in The Villages almost 9 years (put a deposit on this house on Jan. 2, 2005); and one of the first things we did was add a birdcage and Florida room enhancement to the back of the property.

Fortunately for us, the builder accidentally poured a foot of concrete, saving us the necessity for pouring new footers when the roofed addition came:

Once completed, it's been the location for many parties and events ... here set up for a crab-feast a couple years ago:

Only challenge was that over the years we had to be concerned with rainy weather and sunshine in the summer... sooo - here's a "now and then" peek at what we've been planning for the last six months:
