Finished the exterior framing Wed ...
First attached lanai to new room...
Then did exterior plywood and roughed in windows, doors...
Finally can see full extent of both rooms...
However, project delayed a week while they make roofing trusses - they normally make their own trusses, but distances too large to do on site (17+ foot span)... more later.

Beginning to take shape..
Framers showed up Tues morning ...
First had to tear off all siding, remove old porch...
Then framing began... Can see what the new room will look like ...
Nice views of the golf course preserved...
Then the rains came and had to stop until today.

Concrete day :) ...
As promised, cement truck showed up about 9:45, and commenced pumping...
Interesting how they can pump cement approximately 100 ft ...
A bit of leveling...
Finally the new floor plan emerges - the dark area to left is expansion of the lanai, while dark area to right is new raised floor for room expansion to match level of existing house flooring...
New boy-toy is a Foscam - wifi-remote camera that allows me to use iPhone (and any computer) to see progress from anywhere. Plus allows recording of anything it's focused on... today was able to see them doing finishing touches on the concrete from a charity / fundraiser meeting. VERY COOL. Will be very useful when we travel, since contractor can use camera to ask questions and I can monitor anytime. After construction can be used as security camera (even works in dark with IR capability) that will email an alert if motion detected.
Framing supposed to begin Mon ... (will be cutting off the roof at the outside wall and taking off the original porch) ... expected to be done next Fri.

A bit more inside progress...
Fran's favorite subcontractor stopped by to install handles and knobs on the cabinetry in to match the future oiled bronze faucets and granite to be hopefully installed in about month...
Also, Village Pest Service rep Kyle treated ground for termites before it disappears under concrete...
Finally, tomorrow we expect concrete to be poured! Then dramatic progress thereafter... in theory, we hope :)

Slowly slowly
Given the winter weather (well, for Florida), things slowed down dramatically - nothing happened this week ...
Then looked outside a couple days ago and saw we had a new place for a electric outlet in the middle of the future concrete floor (of course they never checked to see if that was actually the place we wanted it - it's now the spot we're going to have it <grin>:
Yesterday, some gentlemen showed up and moved the sprinkler system away from under the new footers...
That means after inspection and approval on Mon, we should see concrete poured on Tues... maybe framed-in exterior of new addition by Fri... but I'm an incurable optimist...

Getting ready for concrete - Forms day
Today workers showed up 8:30, and by 11:30 the outline of new interior room with raised floor and separate screened lanai were framed, ready for concrete to pour after expected rains and inspection...
They use a special rotating laser level so the new room interior concrete at exactly same height as existing interior floor.
Two new footers with rebar necessary to finish off new interior entertainment wall and extension of lanai.
Rebar ties new room concrete floor into existing house.
New rooms floor plan now obvious...
Next comes actual concrete - probably Monday...
